Pole Barn & Garage FAQs for Colorado Property Owners

Answers to Common Questions About Building in Southern Colorado

If you’re looking for a pole barn builder in Colorado who also designs custom garages, livestock shelters, RV storage buildings, and barndominiums, you’re in the right place.

VWC Construction serves Cañon City and communities across a roughly 200-mile radius, including Pueblo West, Trinidad, Westcliffe, La Junta, Aguilar, and Walsenburg. Below are answers to the most common questions we receive — written to help you understand the process and plan your project with confidence.

Permits, Engineering & Planning

Do you handle building permits in Colorado?

Yes. VWC Construction manages the full permitting process for county jurisdictions across Southern Colorado. This includes applications, plan submittals, revisions, and approvals.

Can you build at high elevations like Westcliffe or Saguache?

Yes. For higher-elevation builds, we adjust engineering, truss design, and materials to meet increased snow and wind load requirements common in mountain areas.

Do you provide engineered drawings?

Yes. Once your project scope is finalized, stamped engineered plans are typically completed within 12-15 business days and submitted promptly for permitting.

Is a soils report required?

Most county projects do not require a soils report. If one is requested or site conditions warrant it, we coordinate professional testing as needed.

Meet the Owner

Hi there — I’m Julian Garber, owner and hands-on lead at VWC Construction. Long before blueprints and building codes, I was a little Mennonite boy in the South holding boards steady for my dad, learning that careful craftsmanship and a promise kept are just good manners.

Since putting down roots in Colorado in 2016, I’ve carried that same no-nonsense work ethic across Southern Colorado, personally guiding projects from permits to final walk-through — so every client knows their investment is built with quality, integrity, and care.
