The Long Project is a custom-built 30×60 pole barn located in Salida, Colorado. This building was designed with long-term flexibility in mind, featuring a garage and workshop on the main level, a fully installed loft with stairs above, and framing in place for a future second-level walkout porch when the owners are ready to add it.

The structure was also designed to allow for a future lean-to addition, giving the property owners multiple expansion options without needing major structural changes later.

The sliding patio door was installed in preparation for a future walkout porch, allowing the owners to add outdoor access later without modifying the structure.

Windows & Natural Light

 

​Natural light was intentionally built into both levels of the structure.

  • (7) insulated windows total

    • ​(3) 36″ × 48″ insulated windows

    • (3) 60″ × 48″ insulated windows

    • (1) 72″ × 48″ insulated window

The window placement brightens both the garage and loft areas, reducing the need for artificial lighting.

Future Walkout Porch & Lean-To Planning

 

This pole barn was intentionally framed to support future expansion.

  • Sliding patio door already installed for future porch access

  • Structure designed to allow a lean-to addition on the side
